Philanthropic Leadership for a New Economy

About Us

The Global Fund for a New Economy’s mission is to build an economy that is fundamentally equitable and sustainable. We do this by mobilizing financial resources, fostering institutional and leadership capacity, and nurturing the transnational and cross-sector connective tissue necessary to advance a new economics.

History

The Global Fund for a New Economy was founded in early 2024 by leaders from the new economy movement the world over. The founding was preceded by eighteen months of research and consultation with scholars and civil society leaders in sixteen countries. Fiscally sponsored by the Amalgamated Charitable Foundation, the Fund has support at its founding from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Omidyar Network and other philanthropies.

Our Mission

The Fund’s programming will scale up throughout 2024–2025 as we welcome new partners and staff. We have initiated a series of pilot projects on the political economy of artificial intelligence and technology, green industrial policy/just transition, and a program to strengthen the communications infrastructure of the new economy sector in key countries around the world. To stay in touch and learn more, join our mailing list.
